Good news! We are re-opening from Mon 10 August.

Fáilte! Welcome back to An Grianán!

We are delighted to announce that we will reopen our Café and our Box Office from Monday 10th August.

Opening Hours:

Cafe – 9.30am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Box Office – 9.30am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

We’ve really missed you and are looking forward to seeing you again.

Our first show in the auditorium will be on Culture Night, Friday 18th September. Strict social distancing measures will be in operation in our auditorium in accordance with the latest Government guidelines.

As part of our commitment to the continued well-being of visitors, artists and staff, in ongoing efforts to assist our community in preventing the spread of Covid-19, we have adhered to Government Guidelines and implemented the enhanced protocols and procedures you will notice during your visit. Our staff are here to assist you with a safe journey through the venue, so please ask for assistance if necessary.

  • We are promoting a one-way experience that reinforces social distancing guidelines.
  • We will endeavour to keep queues as short as possible & appreciate your patience.
  • Please wear a mask.
  • Please make use of our hand sanitising stations at entry & exit points.
  • Additional hand sanitiser dispensers are placed at key points throughout the building.
  • We have implemented protective screens at till points.
  • Please use contactless card payments where possible. Keypads will be wiped down after each customer.
  • We are frequently cleaning and disinfecting throughout the building and staff are taking regular hand-washing breaks.
  • We have removed excess furniture from the foyer to limit congestion and dwell time.
  • Toilets are for customer use only. Social distancing measures are in place inside.
  • Additional signage to promote hand washing and best hygiene practices have been posted throughout the building.
  • Additional training and PPE have been provided for all staff.

The Café will also operate a little differently than before.

  • If coming for lunch please book in advance as we will have less tables than usual.
  • You can book by calling 074 91 20777.
  • When you arrive please wait to be shown to your table.
  • We would appreciate you paying by card, we will bring the card machine to you at your table.
  • There will be a specific waiting area for takeaways.

What can you do to help us promote a healthy environment?

We are doing all we can to promote a healthy environment, and in doing so, we also rely on you to keep recommended self-care in mind for your safety and the safety of others. Throughout your experience, please be mindful of current Government and HSE guidelines and public health recommendations, which we are referring to daily to update our Guidelines when necessary.

  • Know the symptoms: If you or a member of your party has a temperature or is feeling unwell, please visit us another time.
  • Wash your hands often, using soap and water, for a minimum of 20 seconds.
  • Help us promote social distancing by distancing yourself appropriately from others who are not part of your party and do not shake hands or hug.
  • Please keep your party together, especially if there are children in your group, to help maintain social distancing with other visitors.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or sleeve when coughing or sneezing and discard used tissues safely.

An Grianán Theatre is currently celebrating our 20th Year with a busy programme of events and activities and we have a vacancy coming up for a Front of House Supervisor. This is a pivotal role in the provision of a positive customer experience in the theatre.

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE Front of House Supervisor

EMPLOYER – An Grianán Theatre Management CLG, (An Grianán Theatre), Port Road, Letterkenny, Co. Donegal F92 RV1F

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

The main role of Front of House (FOH) Supervisor is to ensure that there is a safe, efficient and hospitable Front of House environment for all users of the theatre including patrons artists and companies. The FOH Supervisor will ensure that An Grianán is offering the highest level of customer care to all users. The Front of House includes the theatre’s bar, foyers, toilets, rehearsal room, stairs, lifts and auditorium.

This role is responsible directly to the Director and requires close liaison with the Box Office/Marketing Manager, the Community Employment Supervisor, the Cafe Bar Manager, the Technical Manager and technical staff.

The FOH Supervisor must also become familiar with the theatre’s box office system, Ticketsolve and with the internal telephone system. This training will be provided. A familiarity with the theatre’s programme of events is also expected.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

To supervise other FOH staff in the delivery of their duties eg. directing the audience to their seats, serving drinks, selling merchandise including programmes and confectionery and if necessary to step in to offer support to them at busy periods.  Front of House Staff includes Bar staff, Ushers, Box Office, and Cafe staff.  It is essential that the FOH Supervisor is familiar with other members of staff responsibilities and ensures that their duties are fulfilled to the highest standard.

Greet members of the public and visitors to the theatre, handle enquiriesin person and on the telephone

To ensure that all areas of FOH are operating efficiently –  ensuring all FOH areas including toilets are clean and tidy and stocked with materials promoting forthcoming shows

Direct members of the public to the theatre’s facilities.

To support the duties of the box office staff, handle cash, cheques and credit/debit card transactions reconciling sales to money taken at the end of each day for box office sales and merchandise sales where appropriate.

Liaise with the technical staff to ensure the prompt start of all performances.

To conjunction with the technical staff to ensure that the needs of patrons with physical or intellectual disabilities are met for their full enjoyment of their visit to An Grianán Theatre eg. Wheelchair users are accommodated, induction loop working etc.

When requested to assist with publicity mail shots, invitation lists etc. and help monitor the customer database for errors and changes

To act as the appointed officer in the theatre in the event of any emergency situation such as customer illness, fire and bomb alerts and to act as the Liaison officer with the emergency services on behalf of the theatre in such a situation and to evacuate the theatre if necessary

To deal with complaints or dissatisfied patrons and ensure any issues are communicated to the appropriate member of staff.

To write up an Incident Report detailing any incident or accident involving a member of staff for the public for the attention of the theatre’s Health and Safety Officer

To lock up the theatre buildings as required and ensure that the security alarm is activated.

To have an ongoing responsibility to undertake necessary training eg. First Aid, Box Office, Customer Care etc as appropriate

Carry out any other duties, which reasonably fall within the broad terms of the principle responsibilities

Terms : 20 hours per week, mainly evenings and weekend  work.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will be a mature individual with previous experience in the hospitality sector.

We’re making some changes …

From Monday 9th April our online booking fee will be reduced from €1.50 per ticket to €1 per ticket, and it will now apply equally to all telephone and in person bookings. That means that all tickets sold by An Grianán Box Office will be subject to a €1 booking fee.

Our new box office opening hours for telephone and walk in bookings will be from 10 am to 5pm Monday to Friday, and also on the days when we have a show it will be open from 6pm to 8pm, this includes Saturdays and Sundays.

The Eatery Cafe hours will not be affected by these changes. Its opening hours are 9.30am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday.

Summer Box Office Hours

Our Summer Box Office hours are now in effect.

We’ll be open Mon to Fri 9.30am to 4.30pm. Closed Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays.

In instances where we have a show the box office will be open for two hours preceding the performance.
