An allegory of Oona Doherty’s creative process, ‘Welcome to a Bright white limbo’ is a short film directed by Cara Holmes that documents the making of Oona’s award winning dance performance, ‘Hope Hunt and the ascension into Lazarus’. This visually arresting cinematic short explores Oona’s relationship with her past and finding fluidity in identity through the medium of dance.
With her debut work Hope Hunt, Oona Doherty quickly become recognised as one of the leading dance artists of her generation. In 2021 she was awarded the La Biennale Di Venezia’s Silver Lion for dance and chosen as one of the seven choreographers for Big Pulse Dance Alliance. Doherty has been performing internationally since 2010 with companies such as TRASH (Netherlands), Abattoir Ferme (Belgium), Veronika Riz (Italy), Emma Martin/United Fall (Ireland), Enda Walsh and Landmark Productions (Ireland). Hard to be Soft a Belfast prayer was voted top UK dance show of 2019 by the Guardian. Lady Magma: The Birth of a Cult is currently touring in Europe.
This event is part of Lasta, an exciting arts programme curated by young people in eight Nasc Network venues across Ireland. Lasta is based on an original project conceived and delivered by Backstage Theatre, Longford in 2020.
