K2 is known as the Savage mountain due to the extreme difficulty making it the world’s hardest mountain to summit. Standing at 2,251ft in the stratosphere it’s the second highest after Mt Everest. Very few choose to challenge K2 as it has the second-highest fatality rate among the eleven eight thousand meter mountains in the world, with only 320 global successful summits and 77 fatalities, one person dies on the mountain for every four who reach the summit.
No Irish person has ever summited & survived K2, until now – Global endurance athlete Jason Black made history in doing so this year after spending two months and now is ready to tell the full story which has never been told by any Irish Mountaineer. His production called K2 the stone in my shoe will feature unseen personal footage, photos and interviews and will show a human’s physical perseverance but more importantly the power of controlling the mind in this historic climb.
All the proceeds from the event will be donated to Jigsaw Donegal & Rotary Letterkenny.
