If you are looking for drama and acting classes for children and young people in Letterkenny then An Grianán Youth Theatre is the place for you!

We offer excellent tuition in a professional theatre environment. And where better to learn stage craft than on one of the largest theatre stages in Ireland. Our classes are suitable for ages 7 to 21 and we are affiliated with Youth Theatre Ireland.

Junior Youth Theatre classes

We run 3 courses during the year, approximately 10 to 12 weeks in duration, starting in Sept, Jan and after Easter. Places are available on a first come first serve basis but please note that priority booking is given to continuing students. Each course costs €60.

Entry level: suitable ages 7 to 9
Thursdays, 5pm to 6pm.
Ideal for beginners, these classes focus on learning through dramatic play. Students will be introduced to key drama skills including basic stage craft, creative play, performance development, confidence building, team work and social skills development.
Each course is approximately 10 to 12 weeks and start in Sept, Jan and after Easter. Class size: 12

Junior: suitable ages 10 to 13
Thursday, 6pm to 7.30pm.
Students will develop on the skills described above, learning more about stage craft and theatre terminology, and performance techniques. They will have opportunities to improvise and devise original work as well as working from scripts. Class size: 15

Senior Youth Theatre

An Grianan Youth Theatre's Lee Russell, sound and Angel Humm, lights, for The Delphi Dilemma, The Catcher in the Rye and Blackadder Goes Forth in 2017.

Senior youth theatre classes run term time from Sept to May. Class size: 20. Yearly membership is €120.

NB: Due to demand we hold open auditions for our intermediate and advanced classes in early September.

Intermediate: suitable ages 13 to 15
Wednesdays, 4.30pm to 6pm
These lively, interactive workshops will focus on confidence building exercises, improvisation and teamwork. Beginners are welcome while more experienced students will have a opportunity to build on existing skills as well as learning new techniques using a variety of drama games and exercises.

Wednesdays, 6pm to 7.30pm
Continuing development of performance skills such as voice, movement, characterisation, improvisation, ensemble and devising. The classes are as much about the process as they are about the final showcase and performance. This course is ideal for those who are serious about performance and wish to progress further. Not suitable for beginners.
