Beautiful aerial theatrics in this graceful co-production from Ireland's leading aerial dance company and France's Drapés Aériens.
Three fantastic female aerial dancers, who evolve in a universe of veils and drapes, create a sensual atmosphere that gives birth to beautiful choreography while performed to eclectic music. Madam Silk combines aerial dance, contemporary circus and dance with projection and film.
The piece opens in an empty old house where memories of Madam Silk lay forgotten under sheets of fabric. The winds of time blow through the window and awaken Madam Silk with all her memories, dreams and fantasies. The piece explores these three women and how they portray this one woman and their relationship with each other.
The three performers represent woman from history, each representing a different character. It is a haunting, visually stunning piece where the three aerialists dance both in the air and on the ground using circus skills on fabric and hoops. The video projection is like a huge live painting helping to create a visual atmosphere.
