Cabaret Craiceáilte will feature musicians who support the ‘Craiceáilte’ revolution, a voluntary Irish language movement, which runs a monthly Irish language Cabaret in Gaoth Dobhair, as well as bringing the best of Irish language music and dance over the past two years to the Electric Picnic, Dublin’s St Patrick’s Day Festival, and Belfast’s Fleadh Feirste.
The Cabaret and Feile were established to provide a platform for new and established Irish language singers/musicians, as well as encouraging many bands to sing in Irish.
The idea is to create a vibrant Irish language social/music scene in the Gaeltacht, and throughout the country, as well as creating and supporting an Irish language music industry.
The Cabaret Craiceáilte and Feile Craiceáilte are usually Irish language gigs but tonight’s special gig in An Ghríanán will see a mixture of both English and Irish language acts who support the Craiceáilte revolution. Bígí Craiceáilte!
