Created, choreographed and produced by Carol Leavy Joyce and Michael Patrick Gallagher

The Rising Step brings you on a journey through the story of Irish dance from the time when the dance master visited homes to teach the steps, to the joyous dancing at the crossroads and right up to the present day.

The Rising Step

Local man Michael Patrick Gallagher, principal dancer with Riverdance, leads a cast of dancers, musicians, singers and a narrator in telling this story.

Carol Leavy Joyce was Dance Director with Riverdance The Show for six years and in 2007 was nominated for an Outer Critics award for her collaborative choreography in The Pirate Queen Musical on Broadway. During her dancing career she won three World Championship Titles.

Michael Patrick Gallagher has been principal dancer with Riverdance the Show since 1997, performing in excess of 1800 shows. He holds two World Championship titles.

“This is a cracking show, which gives a good background to the history and styles of Irish dancing …A well deserved thunderous applause and a full standing ovation” Letterkenny Post

“The Rising Step has danced into the public consciousness with a whoop and a holler… Michael Patrick Gallagher brings all his expertise to this production and is sure to be treading the boards both in this country and beyond with this high powered show.” Donegal Peoples Press

“The brilliant Rising Step at An Grianán Theatre- a particular must see.” Donegal Democrat
