Fidil

Ceolchoirm an Oireachtais 2009 kickstarts the Oireachtas festivities in Letterkenny with Fidil, a group whose members are fiddlers Ciarán Ó Maonaigh, Aodhán Ó Domhnaill and Damian Mc Geehin. Fidil are rapidly forging a reputation for exhilarating and challenging music that draws on the rich heritage of their native land. Their music making is marked by an intricate and intelligent approach that still manages to maintain the element of fiery exuberance that is the hallmark of traditional fiddle music from Donegal. This is traditional music for the 21st century - mindful of its origins but breathtakingly exciting in its ambition and delivery.

Mairead Ni Mhaonaigh

Joining them for what promises to be a night no fan of traditional music will want to miss is the luminous Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh of Altan fame with Mánus Lunny, Séamus Begley and a host of other talented traditional musicians, sean-nós dancing and singing artistes.
