Toumani Diabaté and Liam Ó’Maonlaí
Tickets: €18/€15
Inspired by their initial introduction at the Festival of The Desert, Mali, during the making of the film documentary Dambé: The Mali Project we are proud to host the first ever collaborative Irish performance of world renowned kora player Toumani Diabaté with Irish singer, musician and artist Liam Ó’Maonlaí.
EAF audiences need no introduction to Liam Ó’Maonlaí, lead singer of Hothouse Flowers and a noted Sean Nós singer, while those not familiar with the eponymous World Circuit label may have come across one of the brightest star’s of African music performing live on Jools Holland or on Damon Albarn’s Mali Music Project.
In addition to the collaborative pieces, Liam will also be performing solo material from his own extensive back catalogue, while Toumani will perform material from ‘The Mandé Variations’, his first solo, all acoustic kora album since his groundbreaking debut album ‘Kaira’ released almost twenty years ago.
