Shakespeare in Rehearsal is an exciting project aimed at Leaving Certificate Students.
Storytellers aim is to offer a unique and immediate theatre experience focused completely on the text without the distractions of set, lighting and costumes. Three professional actors and a director will present each scene focusing on character interpretation, language structure, possible themes and the cultural/political context in which Shakespeare was writing.
The workshop will be 90 minutes long and based on key scenes from Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’.
Each workshop will be limited to a maximum of 100 students.
Time will be allowed for interaction and debate. Students will be encouraged to suggest alternative approaches to a scene. The actors will take these ‘notes’ on board and recreate the new interpretation of the same scene.
Storytellers has an excellent reputation and has presented professional theatre for young people for the past twenty years. The company was nominated for three Irish Times Theatre Awards in the past two years.
