Hansel and Gretel

Lyngo Theatre in in collaboration with The Egg, Theatre Royal Bath

Tickets: €7

It’s easier to feed two mouths than four and the poor woodsman’s empty stomach goes to his head – he gives in to his bony wife and Hansel and Gretel have to be left in the forest, not just once but twice and the second time there won’t be any moonstones to follow back home.

Instead they follow their noses to the sugary heart of darkness…

Hansel and Gretel’s journey takes them from a house with empty cupboards and a mother who doesn’t like children to a house made of sweets and someone who just loves children – on toast!

A magical scene from Hansel and Gretel

Lyngo serve up a musical theatre treat with their own special recipe of captivating songs and haunting imagery.

Age suitability: 4+

Estimated running time: 60mins

Lyngo is a children’s theatre company that has been touring the UK, Ireland and Europe since 2003.

All their shows are designed and directed by Marcello Chiarenza, an artist and theatre practitioner from Venice, and all have his very distinctive style, based on the principles of ‘object theatre’ – everyday things which are transformed on stage: feathers become flying birds, a napkin becomes a princess, open a book and there’s fire inside, look in that tin bath and Sheila the fish might squirt you with water…

All their shows are performed by Patrick Lynch (currently appearing in CBBC’s Razzle Dazzle) who has worked for companies such as Oily Cart and has more than 15 years experience in theatre.
