An Grianán Youth Theatre Taster Workshop

An Grianán Youth Theatre Autumn Term

We will be running a free Taster workshop on Wed 6 September to audition prospective members into our intermediate and advanced classes.

Prospective members will attend a workshop alongside our current members. This will give them a good overview of what being a member of a youth theatre involves.

Unfortunately as we only have a limited number of places available we cannot guaranteed that everyone who attends the Taster workshop will be accepted into youth theatre. Unsuccessful applicants will be added to our waiting list in case of any cancellations.

Times:

Intermediate (suitable ages 13 to 15) 4.30pm to 6pm.

Advanced (suitable ages 16 to 21) 6.30pm to 8pm.

To book call the box office on 0749120777.

About An Grianán Youth Theatre

Suitable for children and young people ages 7 to 21, at An Grianán Youth Theatre our emphasis is firmly on learning through creative play. Our classes feature an inventive and fun mix of drama games, acting exercises and stage craft.

From the very beginning participants are encouraged to improvise and creatively engage with the material provided by the tutors, sometimes from prepared scripts and sometimes from work devised entirely by the students themselves.

It allows excellent opportunities for both creative and personal development through acting, drama and other performance techniques. Students will learn more about their own voices and movements as well as observing others through play and theatre games. Drama  can also help to build confidence and to develop communication and co-operation skills.

Our youth theatre is also an ideal stepping stone for those wishing to go on to study acting, theatre and performing arts at third level. With an emphasis on performance, participants are offered an insight into many aspects of professional theatre production.

Successful candidates: membership costs €120 a year payable in two instalments in Sept and Jan. Classes run weekly from September to the end of May.
