Border Crossings Summer School - 24 July to 7 August 2010
We will be running a number of workshops as part of the Summer School including the Performance Programme and One-Day Master Class. Young people and adults will be invited to audition for the project and they will be selected for either the Performance Programme or the One Day Master Class.
We welcome musicians who play any instrument from drums to fiddle, guitar, whistle or flute and dancers from all dance styles from Irish, Scottish and hip hop styles.
Auditions will be held in:
The Alley Theatre, Strabane on Wedneday 14 July, 1pm-to 6pm
An Grianán Theatre, Letterkenny on Thursday 15 July, 10am - 4pm
NB: Minimum Age Requirements - musicians 10 years and dancers 12 years
NB: You must register for your audition spot in advance. Registration forms will be available to download here from 21 June or collect at the box office in An Grianán or the Alley Theatre from June 21. We will make the audition schedule available from July 1.

The Performance Programme
The Performance Programme is ongoing between 30 July and 7 August and culminates in two gala concerts: one in An Grianán Theatre and one in The Alley Theatre. All participants on this programme must be available throughout the whole period and for the performances.
Day 1 – Fri 30 July at The Alley Theatre
Day 2 – Wed 4 August at An Grianán Theatre
Day 3 – Thurs 5 August at An Grianán Theatre
Day 4 – Fri 6 August at An Grianán Theatre including Gala Concert
Day 5 – Sat 7 August at The Alley Theatre including Gala Concert
Participants will work together over a five-day period to devise a 30-minute performance piece. The main facilitators in this programme will be Matt McGranaghan and Georgina McKee, supported by other artists from Kintra.
The first day will explore dance and music from both the Irish and Scottish traditions. Participants will have an opportunity to familiarise themselves with new material, as well as brainstorming their own ideas. In days two and three participants will rehearse and refine their performance.
The two Gala concerts will take place in An Grianán Theatre, Letterkenny on 6 August and in The Alley Theatre Strabane on 7 August.
Cost- €40/£35 which includes lunch each day, four complimentary tickets for a gala concert and transport between venues.
The One Day Master Class
This will take place in An Grianán Theatre on Tuesday 3 August and will feature expert tuition in musical instruments as well as fun elements including “Music From Nothing” Workshops.
Cost - €10/£8 includes lunch and two complimentary tickets for a gala concert.

Community Workshops
BRING YOUR GROUP for workshops in “Music from Nothing” or “Storytelling and the Dance”. No experience necessary for these fun filled classes. The workshops are geared towards community groups of any variety and can be brought to your centre or provided at An Grianán Theatre. Available dates are 25th –29th July 2010. The Border Crossings Summer School takes place in An Grianán, Letterkenny and The Alley in Strabane.
