Access for people with disabilities
An Grianán Theatre is dedicated to being accessible to all members of the community. We very much welcome bookings from people with disabilities, both from individuals and groups. The following features are designed to make your visit as pleasent as possible.
There are five parking spaces specifically reserved and marked with a large wheelchair symbol.
Level access is provided from the car park into the building via a gradual ramp, this is also accessible from the footpath on the Port Road. This also includes markings for those who are visually impaired.
The downstairs foyer area has a specially designed wc.
A lift in the downstairs foyer takes patrons up to the upstairs foyer, which allows level access to row H in the auditorium.
A platform lift allows access to the upper foyer exhibition space.
Row H has two permanent wheelchair bays and the facility for five more bays in this row. In our experience, so far, many wheelchair patrons like to transfer to a seat from their wheelchair, and we are very happy to facilitate this.
The Box Office staff will only sell this row of seats to non- disabled patrons when all other seats are sold, thereby giving disabled patrons the same possibilities of booking as other patrons.
For people with hearing difficulties there is an inductive loop system in the auditorium. Hearing aids should be set to the T function.
In addition to these facilities for patrons the backstage and working areas, including the workshops, are also created so as to be accessible for people with disabilities, both staff and performers.
There are two specially adapted dressing rooms, with showers and wc. There is also another specially adapted wc backstage.
There is also level access for performers at the stage door.
It helps us all if you can make your requirements known at the time of booking. The Box Office number is 074 9120777. If you require any more information you can contact the administration office on 074 9123288.
